Specialized in nanoscience and nanotechnology and her interdisciplinary research has been mainly focused on the fabrication of nanostructures using self-assembling methods for biomedical and fuel cells technological applications. After completed her PhD degree in Physics–Nanotechnology at Porto University (UP), she was awarded a Post-Doc FCT mix-fellowship between IN-FIMUP, Porto University and INA, Zaragoza University (Spain). Between 2013/14, she received a contract as auxiliar researcher at CEMUP. Since 2013, CTS is also working as auxiliar professor at the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP). Célia Sousa has an h-factor of 14 (scopus/ISI) and published 55 papers  in international peer review journals and with over 600 citations. Since 2011, she leads the Self-assembling Nanofabrication IFIMUP Lab supervising a research team with 9 members.

Actually he is professor at Abdelmalek Essaadi University & University of New England.
